Nexos Voluntarios

Field Experiences

Field experiences are favored by motivated and active individuals, especially students, who seek an experience that will allow them to grow personally and intellectually. As a volunteer, you will be assigned to an experienced and respected non-profit organization in a project that closely matches your skills and interests. Nexos Voluntarios offers placements in Lima and Urubamba (Cuzco) in impact-driven projects related to education, public health, environment, business and development, and human rights.  In these field experiences, you will get a chance to see how a successful NGO operates and be able to play a role in that by being given a real job with real responsibilities.  Your impact on Peru, while not always immediately obvious, will be powerful and sustainable and will allow you to further your own education and career.

Field Experiences include:

  • Impact driven volunteer placement in a reputable non-profit or grass-root organization
  • Room and board with a Peruvian host family or at the NeVo House, depending on the project site. Meals are included Monday through Friday
  • Donation to the project or to the NeVo social fund
  • 6 weekly hours of Spanish conversation - strengthening program*
  • Weekly cultural immersion activities
  • Conversations with experts on different cultural topics, while volunteers are in Lima
  • “Fire Side Chats” with a coach that help volunteers reflect upon their experiences and perceptions
  • Comprehensive on-site support (including access to the NeVo House, a permanent coordinator and a 24-hour help line)
  • Access to a medical doctor in case of an emergency
  • Transportation to and from the airport in Lima, Cusco and Urubamba

* In the case of long-term stays (more than 12 weeks) Spanish classes are included only for the first 12 weeks. They are optional thereafter.
