Career Breakers

Description: The Career-Breakers program is designed for professional adults who would like to take a break from the treadmill and volunteer in Peru. This program gives volunteers the chance to use their time and skills to contribute to the development of Peru while experiencing a new environment and way of life and partaking in cultural immersion and recreational activities.
Components included in fee:
- Impact driven volunteer placement in one of our projects
- Single room in the NeVo House
- 3 meals per day during the week and breakfast on weekends
- Donation to the NeVo Social Fund
- 6 hours per week of cultural activity workshops: 2 3–hour workshops in traditional Peruvian crafts such as weaving, jewelry, musical instruments, cooking, ceramics, and more.
- One cultural activity per week, including one weekend excursion on the third weekend of every month, which may include a visit to Machu Picchu, a trip to Puno, and more.
- Welcome basket and orientation
- Comprehensive on-site support (including access to the NeVo House, a permanent coordinator and a 24-hour help line)
- Access to a medical doctor in case of an emergency
- Transportation to and from the airport in Lima and Cusco
- Overnight housing in Lima as needed, depending on flights
- “Fire Side Chats” with a coach that help volunteers reflect upon their experiences and perceptions
- If requested, certificate of completion of volunteer work
- Optional Spanish classes (6 hours per week divided into 3 two-hour sessions one-on-one with a native speaker)
