Nexos Voluntarios

Career Breakers

The Career-Breakers program is designed for professional adults who would like to take a break from the treadmill and volunteer in Peru. Depending on what you would like from your volunteer experience, you may choose to either relax with a hands-on service project or contribute your valued knowledge and expertise to a local NGO.  The projects we currently have available range in purpose.  You may choose to work in an area of education, public health, environment, business and development, or human rights. As a volunteer, you will live in Lima, Urubamba or Piura and share your day-to-day life with the locals. This program gives volunteers the chance to use their time and skills to contribute to the development of Peru while also growing personally by working with community members and experiencing a new environment and way of life.

Career Breakers include:

  • Volunteer work in a reputable non-profit or grass-roots organization
  • Room and board with a Peruvian host family, at the NeVo House, or hotel, depending on the project site and volunteers preferences. Meals are included Monday through Friday
  • Donation to the project or to the NeVo social fund
    1. Weekly cultural immersion activities and one weekend trip per month, for volunteers who stay 3 weeks or more*
  • Peruvian craft workshops twice a week
