NeVo’s community development project began in May 2009 in the rural town of Media Luna, Peru. To start, volunteer research on developmental problems in the community through surveys and interviews allowed us to define the most urgent issues in Media Luna. In 2011, each NeVo volunteer in Peru focused on Media Luna’s economy, particularly in the realms of tourism and agriculture. In the future, a volunteer on this project could support Media Luna by working on one of these efforts, or by contributing to a variety or activities, such as developing a plan to promote community-level organization among villagers, investigating the community’s health concerns and how to promote better health practices, and much more. Join us as a volunteer in Peru, and improve the quality of life of Media Luna’s citizens!
